Who we are
Tapthru (“Tapthru”, “we”, “us”) provides smart app links, QR codes, and link analytics at tapthru.app. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash.
Content you add. App names, App Store and Google Play URLs, logo URLs, campaign names and tracking details, and any custom domains you connect.
Link click data. When someone opens a Tapthru link, we record the time of the click, the link and campaign, the device type, operating system, browser, the referring page, and the country the request came from. Country is looked up from the IP address using an offline database (IP geolocation by DB-IP). We do not store IP addresses. To estimate unique visitors we store a one-way hash of the IP address and browser that is salted with a secret key and changes every day, so it cannot be used to identify or track a person over time.
Billing information. Payments are handled by PayPal. We receive your subscription ID, plan, and status — we never see or store card or bank details.
Newsletter. If you subscribe to product updates, we store your email address for that purpose. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Cookies and third-party resources
We only use cookies that are needed to keep you logged in and to secure forms. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
To display our pages, your browser loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from jsDelivr, and the billing page loads PayPal’s checkout script. These providers receive your IP address as part of delivering those files, under their own privacy policies.
How we use information
- To provide the service: route links, generate QR codes, and show you analytics.
- To run your account and subscription, and to send service emails such as password resets.
- To prevent abuse, such as rate limiting and blocking links used for phishing or malware.
- To send product updates, only if you subscribed.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use link click data to build advertising profiles.
Who we share information with
We share information only with providers that help us run Tapthru — our hosting provider, PayPal for payments, and our email delivery provider — and only as needed to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the service and its users.
If you use Tapthru links
When you share Tapthru links, we collect the click data described above on your behalf. If your own privacy obligations require it, you are responsible for telling the people who use your links that this analytics is collected.
How long we keep information
We keep account information and click data while your account is active. Your plan determines how much analytics history you can view. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account information, apps, links, and click data, except where we must keep records (for example, billing records) for legal reasons.
Your rights
You can view and update your name and password from your account at any time. You can also ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
We use HTTPS for all traffic, store passwords as hashes, never store raw IP addresses, and limit access to personal information to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Tapthru is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email.
